Who we are
We are a
design/build firm in the southern end of Rhode Island near
the beaches. Our size is small but our experience and capabilities
are great. Due to our coastal location we specialize, but
are not limited to, sensitive areas impacted by wetlands,
coastal features, flood zones and wind velocity. We offer
a variety of services including architectural design with
building plans and specifications, project management and
real estate services. We have been involved in designing
buildings for over 30 years and have over 200 buildings
in our portfolio. Projects include custom residential, offices,
retail, barns, whimsy, remodeling and additions.
We
are a family business in its fifth generation. Carl
Johnson III, Owner of Carl Johnson, Design-Build Inc.; and Vice President of C&C Investments, son Carl Johnson IV; project manager, son Drew Curtis, framer and
finish carpenter; wife and mom, Cindy
Curtis, Realtor, marketing director and President of
C&C Investments, Inc.
Our
experience extends to six states including Rhode
Island, Connecticut,
Massachusetts, Florida,
Vermont and Maryland.
We have our own woodworking
shop that enables us to design and build custom kitchens,
bookshelves and other decorative cabinets for on site installation.
We also specialize in outside showers, bathrooms, decks
and whimsical elements.
Rhode Island projects include
site sensitive water view and waterfront homes in Charlestown
and surrounding neighborhoods and towns. Inventory can be
seen in Wakefield, Wickford, Narragansett, Green Hill, Foster
Cove, Shady Harbor, Shelter Harbor, Tockwotten Cove, Pond
Shore, Fort Neck, Central Beach, Weekapaug, and Watch Hill
to name a few areas adjacent to the ocean. North side properties
include Ballycrennane and Tamanaco.
Inventory in Connecticut
is located primarily in the Simsbury area with smatterings
in Ridgefield, Canton and New London.
Florida buildings are located
in Palm Coast, a newly developing community on the east
coast.
The newest development site
is in Dorset, Vermont where remodeling is occurring in a
19th century farm house. Currently the company has taken
on a milk barn that they are converting into a home. New
construction is happening in the Okemo Ski Resort in Ludlow,
Vermont and on historic Church Street in the village of
Dorset.
We are selective in what
projects we take on in any given year as we do not like
to overload our resources or stress ourselves or our clients.
We take the time necessary to have timely communication
with our clients during the process of their project and
take only enough work to do a thorough and effective job
from beginning to end for the select few that we work with.
To this end we interview each and every client so that we
get to know them and they get to know us before forming
a partnership to design/build or rehab their project.
